Happy New Year to all Weld Dems! I can’t believe that 2022 is over and we are now in a brand new year. The last year brought us new hope that Democrats in Weld County can win, and we elected five Democrats that represent Weld County, (six if you count Weld resident, Dave Young.) Yadira Caraveo, Rhonda Solis, Mary Young, Jennifer Parenti and Joe Neguse. In 2023, we will again have a chance to elect Democrats in Weld County. We will need candidates for local races and with the momentum of 2022, we could make a real difference in county and local leadership. If you have had enough of Republican County Commissioners, maybe you would like to run for office. Have you considered being on your local school board, or running for a position on your city’s council, or maybe mayor? This would be a great year and a great opportunity to get involved in local government.

If running for office is not something you are available for, please consider being a part of local party leadership. We will be electing county party officers at our reorganization meeting on February 11. If you are interested in guiding the direction of the county party by being elected to the executive team, please let me know by the end of January at bwdonkeypower@gmail.com. We have a number of positions to fill and getting involved with party leadership is an important role.

Weld County is blessed to have so many active Democrats and so many willing volunteers. I am so grateful to everyone who made so many of our events, canvassing, texting, phone banking, and fund raising so successful. We will always need dedicated volunteers and now we have a brand new office ready to welcome volunteers. On January 8, we are having an afternoon open house to see our new office and the beautiful amenities that come with it. A new start in a new year, and we hope to have as many people as possible come see our new digs in the Greeley Building between 10th and 11th Avenue at 7th Street.

Have a blessed and happy new year and please consider running for office or Democratic party leadership.

-Beverly Wallace, Chair of the Weld County Democratic Party
