If you haven’t turned in your ballot by now, please do so as soon as possible. For more information on voting, ballot drop offs, and in-person voting centers, visit the Weld County Elections website. Election day is Tuesday, but to make vote counting easier for election judges, turn your ballot in before election day. Let’s show Greeley and Weld County that what we have been protesting about is not just political theater but a stand for American values. Lets show that our motto has resonance. E Pluribus Unum – Out of Many – One! Greeley and Weld are very diverse communities with many cultures, religions and languages, but the elite and very MAGA among us would have us believe otherwise. I hope the fired-up protestors and all who wished they could protest will put their actions where their outrage is and vote in progressive, fair and forward- thinking candidates. Let’s send a message that what we have had for too long is not working. This fire must continue into the mid-terms next year.

That being said, we need candidates to run for house districts, senate and county commissioners. Please do not let Steve Reams, our former MAGA Sheriff, run unopposed for At-Large County Commissioner. We are going to need lots of volunteers to help run caucus, assembly and to help with candidate campaigns. Please go to our website and sign up to volunteer or to run for something.

We are coming to the end of the year and already we are planning our holiday party  Saturday December 6th at the LINC Library in Greeley. It is something we look forward to all year. It is so nice to get together with Dems from all over, share our successes and concerns. We get to meet candidates, have good food, fun, and pick up some fabulous baked goods. If you would like to help with this event, fill out the volunteer form to help with this event. We will need set-up and take down, bake sale items, and help with the store. You could also let us know what you might be bringing for the potluck.

November is a time to give thanks, and despite what this administration is doing everyday to undermine the rule of law, stomp on the constitution and endanger democracy; we have a lot to be thankful for. We do have strong leaders and everyday citizens who are willing to stand up and say enough. As long as Dems are fighting for the rights of all, this government shutdown is hard on everyone. Please be kind, and patient with our federal workers and all government workers. There are several ways you can give to make life less hard for these neighbors. Food banks are strained and need donations. Another place you can go to is Channel Seven’s web page. Denver7 Gives has created a campaign where you can donate to help Coloradoans struggling with food insecurity. To help unemployed state park workers in Estes, go to Crossroads Ministry. Many local churches have set up funding opportunities to help as well. We need to stand ready to help our neighbors, more than ever this year. Please check out the Connect page on our website.  Count your blessings, be kind, be generous and hold strong to what makes us Americans.
