Central Committee meetings for the Weld County Democratic Party, 19th Judicial District, County Commissioner Districts 1, 2 and 3 and House District 50

8:30 – 9:00 a.m. Registration

9:00 a.m. Central Committee meetings

Agenda items will include:

Weld County Central Committee:

  • Elect Weld County officers:
    • Chair
    • 1st Vice Chair
    • 2nd Vice Chair
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
  • Elect bonus members to State Executive Committee – 5
  • Elect bonus members to State Central Committee – 14
  • Elect bonus members to Congressional District Central Committees: CD 2 (2) CD 4 (2) CD 8 (10)
  • Designate a county vacancy committee.

Each of the following district central committees will elect a chair, vice-chair and secretary and designate a district vacancy committee:

19th Judicial District
County Commissioner Districts 1, 2, and 3
House District 50 House District 50 will also elect one State Platform Committee member.

Candidates for state party office or other dignitaries may join us during the meeting.

Any registered Democrat in Weld County is eligible to seek election as a county or district officer or as bonus member to the State or Congressional District Central Committees or State Executive Committee. You need not be a voting member of a central committee to attend the Feb 8th meetings.

BALLOTS. Printed ballots will be prepared for the county officer and bonus member positions. Go to the Weld Dems’ website https://weldcountydems.org/ or email the Party at wd.centralcomm@gmail.com to submit your name and the specific positions in which you’re interested. For further information, call or email Carol Burkhart 970-302-6802 or carollburk@gmail.com Names received after Thursday, Feb 6th will be announced at the meeting. Names may also be added at the Feb 8th meeting.

PROXIES. If you are a voting member of a central committee and cannot attend the Feb. 8th Central Committee meetings, please complete and return the attached proxy by email at wd.centralcomm@gmail.com to arrive by Feb 7th. You may also call Weld Democratic Headquarters 970-351-7047 to leave your name, address and phone number and request that a proxy be completed for you. See the proxy form for additional information.

Please notify the Party whether you will attend the Feb. 8th Central Committee meetings. Reply to this email to confirm your attendance or return your proxy if you cannot attend.

Who are the voting members of central committees?

Weld County Central Committee: Weld precinct organizers (POs) elected at the 2024 precinct caucuses or appointed since that time, the elected county officers, and Democratic elected officials residing in Weld County (State Treasurer Dave Young).

County Commissioner District Central Committees: POs in the district, district officers, members of the Colorado General Assembly (State House and Senate) and district attorney, all of whom are Democrats and reside in the district.

State Senate and State Representative District Central Committees within one county: district officers and the chair, vice-chair, and secretary of the county central committee, in addition to the precinct organizers and Democratic members of the Colorado General Assembly, all of whom reside in the district.

Multi-county district central committees: the district officers; precinct organizers, members of the General Assembly; and the chair, vice-chair and secretary of each county party or their designated representatives, all of whom reside within the district.
