Aims Community College Board of Trustees seeks letters of interest for vacancy

The Aims Community College Board of Trustees is accepting letters of interest from applicants interested in serving until November on the five-person board.

The opening came following the death of Greeley resident John Haefeli on Saturday, May 31. He was two years into his term.

To be eligible for the appointment, a candidate must be at least 18 years old and a registered voter in the Aims district for at least 12 consecutive months before the appointment. The candidate also must be a resident of District E, which is one of five districts overseen by the board, and is comprised of the Weld RE-5J School District (Johnstown and Milliken) and Greeley-Evans School District 6.

The potential appointee must consent to a criminal background check.

The letter of interest should include a biographical statement, the reasons for the interest in the role and any previous board experience.

The letter must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 15 to board of trustees liaison Jerry Harvey via email at jerry.harvey@aims.edu or by mail to the President’s Office at Aims Community College, Ed Beaty Hall, Room 103, Greeley, CO 80634.

Upon submission of the letter, applicants will be asked to fill out a sworn affidavit attesting to the qualifications for office as well as consent to a criminal background check.

The board will meet with prospective candidates in late June. A time and date will be set soon. The appointment will be made a special board meeting.

For more information, contact Harvey at 970-339-6211 or jerry.harvey@aims.edu.
