Jim Riesberg,
a Greeley businessman, was re-elected in November 2006
to the Colorado House of Representatives.
A Colorado native, Riesberg draws upon years of involvement
in community and church organizations to represent
Greeley, Evans, Garden City and Rosedale in
House District 50.
Jim has three key committee assignments:
the Appropriations Committee, the Capitol Development Committee and the
Committee on Health and Human Services.
Jim served on three interim committees summer 2005.
Two are on health care. The other,
the Capital Development Committee, visited Greeley in July.
In 2005, Jim's first session, he introduced seven bills.
Six were signed into law, including:
conforming Colorado law to federal law regarding over the road hauling;
improving the efficiency of the water courts;
protecting children in contested divorce cases;
providing more funding for rural telephone companies;
protecting the funding for school nutrition programs;
and continuing the regulations for respiratory therapists.
Jim himself pulled back the seventh, in order to improve it.
In 2006, he outdid himself, with twelve more bills signed into law
out of sixteen, with two vetoed by the Governor.
